Study of the efficacy functions of experimental vaccines against coronavirus infections in animal models.

Project acronym: COVID2
Project title: Study of the efficacy functions of experimental vaccines against coronavirus infections in animal models.
Project registration number: FW03010472
State funding provider: Technology Agency of the Czech Republic
Programme: TREND 3
Start date: 2023-01-01
End date: 2025-12-31
Principal investigator: Hajdúch Marián M.D., Ph.D.

The project is aimed to establish a research and development platform of experimental vaccines against infections coronavirus focusing especially on COVID2 causative agent COVID19. As part of the project, variant experimental vaccines against COVID19 will be prepared and tested. Then their effectiveness and safety in animal models will be verified. The aim of the project is to build a pilot plant and the proven technology of coronavirus vaccine candidates and verify their efficacy and safety while minimizing the potential risks of adverse reactions. This research and development platform for the selection of a vaccine candidate, based on mathematical models of confirmed efficacy functions, could also be used in the event of another threat of a viral pandemic.
